A step closer to Wembley

Jose Mourinho was looking to book Manchester United's place in the EFL cup final as they hosted a struggling Hull City at home in the first leg of the EFL cup. Paul Pogba was looking to finish the game with a big score so there is no trouble when they travel to Hull in the second leg. Mourinho had announced a strong lineup but started without Zlatan Ibrahimovic who ruled out due to illness, that meant Wayne Rooney started up front.
The first half remained deadlocked as Hull keeper Jakupovic made some crucial saves to deny United's Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney. In the second half, Henrikh Mkhitaryan's header was tapped in by Juan Mata who gave United the lead. The game remained pretty tight as United looked for a second goal. Marouanne Fellaini was brought on who was rumored to leave United for AC Milan. He ended up scoring United's crucial second goal after met by Darmian's cross. The match ended 2-0 for Man United and now they had to defend their lead in the second leg to book a ticket to Wembly to face either Southampton or Liverpool.
