New year, same Manchester United

Manchester United were in fine form and were unbeaten in 11 league games, last time this happened was in the Sir Alex Ferguson era, they hosted Middlesbrough at home before travelling to West Ham a day later, a very busy weekend for the Red Devils.
In the match against Middlesbrough, David De Gea was in goal, Bailly and Smalling paired at the back, Valencia and Blind as full backs. Carrick was ruled out of the match due to illness but was expected to return on Monday, Wayne Rooney was sidelined due to an ankle injury and was in doubt for the game on Monday against West Ham. Marouanne Fellaini, Pogba and Herrera were in midfield, Martial and Mkhitaryan on the wing with Ibrahimovic upfront as always.
United started the match with dominance but also saw a clear goal being disallowed as referee Lee Mason gave a fouk against Ibrahimovic on former United player Victor Valdes. Things got worse in the second half as Middlesbrough's patience paid off, as Grant Leadbitter scored the opener after being set up by Alvaro Negredo, and slotted it past David De Gea.
A goal meant that Middlesbrough now had to defend and keep hold of that precious 1-0 lead, but United weren't ready to give up easily.
Paul Pogba's long ball found Ibrahimovic who laid it on to Martial's path who scored the equalizer in the 85th minute, salvation for the Red Devils. But things were quite not over yet, seconds let Juan Mata's cross found Paul Pogba who headed it into the goal and left Valdes standing, Manchester United with a superb comeback and were on the verge of a 6th straight win.
The match ended in United's favour as they win 2-1 up next was a trip to West Ham just two days later.

Michael Carrick was back in the starting XI, Anthony Martial was dropped to the bench and Rojo and Jones were paired at the back, Darmian returned at leftback. The match started quite unusual as Sofiane Feghouli was sent off by referee Mike Dean for a tackle on Phil Jones, West Ham reduced to 10 men in the first 20 minutes but managed to keep the score 0-0 till half time.
Jose Mourinho the brought on Mata from the bench in place of Darmian, and Carrick moved to centre back position, later Lingard was taken off for Marcus Rashford and the subsitution paid off as Rashforf set up Juan Mata as Manchester United took the lead and broke the deadlock, minutes later Zlatan Ibrahimovic sealed the game with a thumping shot which ended the game in United's favour, this was their 7 straight win and were now unbeaten in 13 league games. United remained in 6th, level on points with Tottenham who are to face Chelsea on Wednesday. Up next for the Red Devils was a home game against Reading in the FA cup, will Manchester United retain the FA cup?
